Remodel with Gas Fireplace Inserts

Gas fireplace inserts are a great way to increase the efficiency of your masonry fireplace. These inserts use gas fireplace logs that can look very similar to your original wood burning fire. You can use inserts for outdoor brick fireplaces or any other type of masonry fireplace you currently own.

When you design you outdoor space, your exiting masonry fireplace can help you create a rustic style. For example, you can add an insert to an outdoor brick fireplace. You can use flag stone on your patio floor and place weathered teak chairs and side tables around your fireplace. Define your space with plants that grow well in your area or large vases that match your brick fireplace. You have now created a cozy relaxing space to unwind in the evenings.

Gas Fireplace Inserts

An outdoor fireplace insert consists of gas logs inside a firebox surrounded by a metal shell. Air flows into the shell which is then heated by the fire, and then redistributed back through the glass enclosure. This simple change can greatly increase the heat output from your fireplace and make your space that much more pleasant.

The advantage of gas inserts is that you will have the look of a traditional fireplace, but you will not need to clean up ashes or soot. These inserts must be used on a fully functioning fireplace because they need the same ventilation as a wood burning fireplace. The byproducts of combustion are carried out through the chimney.
